In total, nine Kansas City players were named to the Summit League postseason awards lists
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - For the second-straight season, Kansas City Men's Soccer is bringing home both the Summit League Coach of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors, as was announced this morning. Head Coach Ryan Pore has put together one of the most successful two-year stretches in program history and has been rightfully honored as the league's top gaffer, leading the squad to a share of the regular season conference championship for the first time since 2010 and winning 10-plus games in consecutive years for the first time in program history. Bryce Outman was named the league's Newcomer of the Year, becoming the fifth player in program history to earn the award and following up on Elie Kisoka's 2024 honor.
In total, nine Kansas City players made the postseason lists: Outman, Jeremy Francou and Guille Munoz made the First Team, Joackim Betina, Bryson Gosch and Raphael Kistmann made the Second Team and Miguel Fernandez, Elie Kisoka and Timothy Ospina were all named Honorable Mention All-League. Additionally, Outman and Betina earned spots on the All-Newcomer squad.
Outman's first year of collegiate soccer has been one to remember. The freshman started in 11 of the Roos' final 12 games, including five of six league contests. He played 80-plus minutes six times on the season, including 90 minute shifts against Denver and Delaware. He tallied three of his five assists this season against Summit League opponents, tied for the second-most in league play. Outman becomes the first Kansas City player to earn first team all-league honors as a freshman since Jordan Rideout in 2011 - Rideout went on to score the second-most goals in program history in his four-year career.
Francou followed up on an Honorable Mention campaign in 2024 and set himself apart as one of the top strikers in the league this year. He leads the team with eight goals on the season and his 19 total points ranks fourth in the Summit League. Four of his eight scores this season have gone down as game-winners, ranking eighth in the nation.
Playing his third season in a Roo uniform, Guille Munoz has been one of Kansas City's most reliable defenders throughout the entirety of conference play. He started in all six league games, tallying a goal and an assist while logging the full 90 minutes in four contests. He scored his lone goal of the season in the Roos' comeback win at Massachusetts, equalizing the game in the 67th minute.
After beginning his collegiate career at Florida International, Joackim Betina has been a key component of the Roos' success this season. He started in 16-of-17 games and played 1,373 minutes, most of any outfield player. Betina played all 90 minutes in four of Kansas City's league contests, scoring a goal in the game at Denver on Sep. 27.
Gosch was named Honorable Mention All-League last season and made his way up to the Second Team this year, starting in all six conference games and playing 90 minutes in the final four. He has scored a pair of goals on the season, the game-winner against No. 24 Missouri State and an equalizing goal at San Diego.
Kistmann earns Second Team All-League honors for the second-consecutive season, scoring all five of his goals in the team's final five regular season games. He went on a three-game goal scoring streak from Oct. 18-26, later winning Offensive Peak Performer of the Week. He tallied his third-career brace in the regular season finale, helping the Roos clinch a share of the league title.
Following an All-Tournament team nod in 2024, Fernandez earns Honorable Mention All-League honors this season. He joins Francou as the only Kansas City players to have started in all 17 games this season, playing 1,069 total minutes. Fernandez went for his lone assist of the year in KC's win over St. Thomas, the third assist of his three-year career.
The reigning Offensive Player of the Year, Kisoka returned fully from offseason surgery just in time for Summit League play. He started in five of the Roos' six league contests, scoring an 87th minute game-winner at Oral Roberts and logging an assist in the regular season finale against Delaware.Â
A transfer from Incarnate Word, Ospina wraps up the Roos' 2025 postseason honors with an Honorable Mention nod. He started in three league games, including a 90-minute stint in the win over St. Thomas. He scored his lone goal of the year against the Tommies, icing the win with a 90th-minute blast.
Kansas City begins its defense of the Summit League Tournament title tomorrow evening, hosting third-seeded Delaware for a 5 p.m. kickoff. The Roos currently rank 25th in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 and have the 19th-best RPI in the nation, according to the NCAA.
