Jayson Petty and Jerome Palm each scored 13 points for the Roos
OGDEN, Utah - Kansas City Men's Basketball (1-6) fell at Weber State (3-4) this evening, 82-61. The Roos were hampered by 66.7% second half shooting from the Wildcats, unable to string together enough stops to come back from a 12-point halftime deficit. Jayson Petty and Jerome Palm each scored 13 points for Kansas City, Petty adding four assists and Palm going 6-of-8 from the field.
The Roos were able to limit Weber State on the offensive end in the early going, holding the Wildcats to just 21 points in the first 14 minutes. Petty knocked down a pair of early three-pointers, but they were the only treys KC would get in the first half, shooting 2-of-11 from long range. WSU found its stride late in the half, using a 14-8 run to end the half up by 12.
Weber State's lead swelled up to 18 points early in the second half, but Kansas City put together a 10-point run spurred by Palm and CJ Evans to cut the deficit to eight and force a Wildcat timeout. KC stayed within striking distance heading into the under-eight media timeout, but the final seven minutes saw Weber State outscore KC by 11 and claim the victory.
The Roos return home from a four-game road stretch on Wednesday, hosting Idaho State in the Big Sky-Summit League challenge.
