Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Basketball begins its longest road stretch of the season on Saturday, traveling to Texas for the first of four-straight road games. KC will take on the Longhorns of Texas, their first SEC opponent since playing at LSU on Nov. 9, 2022, the first road game of Coach Marvin Menzies' Kansas City career.
- The Roos dropped 91 points in their recent loss to Iona, shooting 65.3% from inside the three-point line. The Roos' 91 points scored was the team's most in a regulation game against a Division One opponent since scoring 91 in a win over Western Illinois on Feb. 5, 2022.
- CJ Evans went for the first 20-point performance by a Kansas City player this season in the game against the Gaels, finishing with 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting. Evans added five assists and currently ranks sixth in the Summit League with an average of 3.7 assists per game.
- Center Jerome Palm currently finds himself among the nation's best in an unlikely category for the big man. He has tallied nine assists and just one turnover on the young season, ranking first in the Summit League and 14th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio.
- The Roos' pace of play has looked much different to begin the 2025-26 season. According to KenPom, Kansas City played at an adjusted tempo of 64.7 in 2024-25, ranking 321st in the nation. Through three games this season, KC's adjusted tempo is 73.1, ranking 85th in the NCAA.
Texas Notes
- Texas has begun year one under Sean Miller with a 2-1 record, defeating Lafayette and FDU after a season-opening loss to Duke.
- The Longhorns are out-rebounding opponents by an average margin of 13.7 per game thus far, ranking 36th in the nation.
- Texas has four players currently averaging over 10 points per game, led by Matas Vokietaitis at 16.0. The transfer from FAU scored a season-high 19 points in the Longhorns' win over FDU.
- This will be the first-ever meeting between Kansas City and Texas. The Roos hold a 6-12 all-time record against current SEC schools with two wins apiece against Mississippi State, Missouri and Texas A&M.
