Raphael Kistmann scored a pair of goals in the Roos' 2-0 week
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Kansas City Men's Soccer took to the road and took down a pair of non-Summit League opponents last week, thanks in large part to the offensive performance of Raphael Kistmann. Scoring two goals and playing a key role in a third, Kistmann has been named the Summit League's Kwik Star Offensive Peak Performer of the Week.
Kistmann first found the back of the net in the 59th minute of KC's win over Tulsa on Wednesday, taking a cross from Joackim Betina and using his left foot to push it across and double the Kansas City lead late. He was also involved in both of the Roos' goals in the win over Michigan State, scoring the game-winner on a corner kick in the 50th minute. Just 12 minutes later, he made a run through the box and applied pressure on a Spartan defender, resulting in an own goal that sealed the win for Kansas City.
The senior from Caxambu, Brazil has come on in recent weeks, making starts and scoring in each of Kansas City's last three games. He has now scored 11 goals and tallied 30 points in his two-year career, trailing just Elie Kisoka for the most by any KC player over the last two years. It is the second weekly award of Kistmann's career, also bringing one in on Sep. 9 of last season.Â
Kansas City carries a five-game winning streak into its match against UMass on Saturday afternoon, where the Roos will take on the fourth-place Minutemen in the final road game of the regular season.
