Kansas City Women’s Soccer looks to continue success in homestand
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Women's Soccer enters the matchup against Missouri State on a three-game shutout streak. The last time the Roos had three consecutive clean sheets was from Oct. 20 to Oct. 27, 2019, when the Roos defeated Utah Valley, 1-0, New Mexico State, 2-0, and California Baptist, 1-0 in OT. In 2018, Kansas City went on a six-game shutout streak. Â
- In the first five games of the season, the Blue and Gold have had seven unique goal-scorers and five unique assists. Adriana Benassi is the only Roo to score multiple goals this year, earning two against Emporia State. Emery Ruliffson leads KC in assists with three (third in the Summit League) earning one assist against Marquette, Emporia State and Southern Illinois.Â
- The Roos have outscored opponents 8-to-1 in the young season. The lone goal against Kansas City was scored in the 90th minute against Marquette. KC currently averages 13.2 shots per game compared to 8.6 shots from opponents.Â
- This season, Kansas City is 3-0 when they land five or more shots on goal. Last season the Roos finished 1-2-2 in the same category.Â
Missouri State NotesÂ
- The Bears enter the matchup coming off a four-game home stretch. They went 2-1-1 in the games, including a shutout win over Tulsa, 1-0, in their home opener.Â
- Kansas City is 2-3-1 when they host Missouri State and behind in the series 3-8-2. The Roos' last win over Missouri State came Aug. 22, 2021, when the Roos won, 2-1 in Kansas City.Â
- Last year, Missouri State was undefeated across their first seven games of the season, earning five wins and two draws.Â
Tulsa NotesÂ
- Tulsa dropped its first game of the season to Missouri State, 1-0, in a shutout. The Golden Hurricane bounced back with two wins and two draws in their next four games.Â
- One draw came from fellow Summit League team, Oral Roberts on Aug. 29 when the Golden Eagles tied the Golden Hurricane, 1-1.Â
