Mesa Falleur is the Player of the Year, while J.W. VanDenBorn nabs Coach of the Year honors
SIOUX FALLS - Kansas City Men's Golf capped off the 2023-24 season with Summit League Golfer and Coach of the Year honors, as was announced by the league today. Mesa Falleur, the 2024 Summit League Championship MVP, was named the Golfer of the Year, while Head Coach J.W. VanDenBorn earned Coach of the Year honors for the second-straight season.
Following a freshman campaign that saw him earn a pair of top-10 finishes, Falleur burst onto the scene in his sophomore year, going for four top-10 finishes and a Summit League Individual title. He led the league in scoring average, shooting 71.2 strokes per round, and tallied 16-of-32 rounds at-or-under par. He earned First Team All-League honors, leading the Roos' scoring efforts in 7-of-11 tournaments. In addition, he finished tied for eighth at the NCAA Austin Regionals and was later named Academic All-League.
VanDenBorn has been named the Summit League Coach of the Year for the second year in-a-row, earning his seventh-career Coach of the Year award. This comes on the tail of his seventh conference title, leading Falleur to the individual title and guiding Lucas Dutartre and Max Cooper to All-Tournament team honors. It is the first time that VanDenBorn has won Coach of the Year honors in two-straight seasons as a member of the Summit League, and he becomes the first Summit League coach to do so since Casey VanDamme in 2016-17. He previously earned back-to-back Coach of the Year honors as members of the Western Athletic Conference in 2018-19.
