Kansas City Softball Faces Kansas, North Dakota State on the Road
4/23/2024 2:34:00 PM | Softball
The Roos enter their final two weeks of regular season competition
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City will look to pick up its first win over the Bison during the Kiki Stokes O'Connor era. So far this season the Roos have earned at least one win against all Summit League opponents aside from a South Dakota State that remains undefeated in conference play. A win over NDSU would leave SDSU as the only Summit League team that has yet to be defeated under Stokes O'Connor's guidance.Â
- Sophomore outfielder Lauren Parker was a key player for the Roos at the plate and in the field last weekend. She earned three hits in eight plate appearances including a triple and a double. Parker took six bases and scored one run for the Blue and Gold. She notched a team-high 15 putouts with a perfect fielding percentage in left field.Â
- Last weekend, Camryn Stickel threw 14.2 innings for the Roos. She currently leads the Summit League in innings pitched with 156 so far this season, 47.2 of which were during conference play. Stickel made appearances in all three games last weekend, notching her third save in the win over Omaha.Â
- The Roos face Western Illinois next weekend in their final mid-week matchup of the regular season. Kansas City defeated the Leathernecks in a shutout victory earlier this season, winning 2-0 on March 12.Â
- Another conference win this season will mark an improvement on last year's Summit League Record. The Roos finished the 2023 season with a 4-17 record. Five more wins would allow them to tie the 2022 season with nine wins.Â
Kansas Notes
- Kansas enters the matchup on a three-game losing streak, after being swept by No. 1 Texas the weekend prior. The Jayhawks brought in five runs across three games against the Longhorns, but without a win, their conference record moved to 11-10 on the season.Â
- This will be the Jayhawks' final non-conference matchup of the season. They face No. 4 Oklahoma State this weekend followed by BYU to close their regular season.
- Sophomore Hailey Cripe is one of four Jayhawks hitting above .300 on the season. She leads the team in RBIs with 34 and has started in all 45 of the matchups this season. Â
North Dakota State Notes
- North Dakota State will look to pick up its first win since April 6 in this weekend's series against Kansas City. The Bison were swept by South Dakota State and North Dakota in back-to-back weekends, pushing their conference record to 3-9.Â
- Junior Savy Williams leads NDSU in the circle. She holds a team-low 3.10 ERA and is tied for first in wins with five. Williams has notched 45 strikeouts across 88 innings.Â
- The Bison currently hold an eight-game winning streak over the Roos, dating back to April 2, 2021. Kansas City's most recent win over the Bison in Fargo was on April 22, 2012.Â
