First Five
First Five
- Kansas City Men's Basketball returns home on the heels of a 74-64 win over Wichita State, KC's second-ever win in seven tries at Wichita. The Roos now turn to a game against East Tennessee State, looking to extend their season-long three-game winning streak.
- The Roos have found success when sharing the ball this season, winning all seven of their games when logging 15-or-more assists and posting a 7-0 record in such games. Tuesday's game at WSU was no different as Kansas City went for 16 dimes, led by a career-high six from Jamar Brown.
- Kansas City is 5-0 on the season when shooting above 50% from the floor and have reached that mark in back-to-back games. According to Sports Reference, only 72 other teams in the NCAA have won five-plus games this season while shooting above 50% from the floor.
- Despite being one of the top teams in the nation in forcing turnovers, the Roos found a different way to win against the Shockers. Kansas City went for just five steals and created a season-low six turnovers, winning their first game this season when forcing less than 10 turnovers.
- The Roos are unafraid to shoot the three, attempting an average of 27.8 per game and shooting 20-plus in all 14 games this year. The Roos rank 48th in the nation in three-point attempts per game and 47th in three point makes per game.
Scouting ETSU
- The Buccaneers enter Saturday's game with a 7-5 record, snapping a three-game losing streak by beating Elon on Wednesday.
- ETSU's offense is spearheaded by Quimari Peterson and Jaden Seymour, averaging 17.8 and 16.8 points per game, respectively. The Bucs are one of just 26 teams nationwide to have two players averaging 16-plus points per game.
- The Bucs are a high-percentage shooting team, knocking down 45.3% of their field goals and 35.3 of their three-point attempts. Both of those marks rank top-five in the SoCon.
- ETSU and KC have both played Wichita State this year. ETSU lost, 96-87 while KC won, 74-64.
- ETSU won the only meeting between these two squads last season.
