Roos Blow Out Falcons By Record 88-Point Margin of Victory

Led by six double digit scorers, Kansas City handled Kansas Christian College 124-36, exceeding the previous program record margin of victory by 15 points
KANSAS CITY – Kansas City (2-0) blew the doors off Kansas Christian College (0-4) 124-36 in the Swinney Center on Friday evening. The Roos got off to an excellent start thanks to a 25-4 run to start the game in which KC shot 8-of-13 from the floor during that stretch. With a 47 point lead at halftime, Kansas City cruised to a 62 point second half, the same figure they scored in the first.
Anderson Kopp led the Roos in scoring with 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and knocked down four three balls. Kasheem Grady was the Roos other 20-plus point performer with 21 on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Kansas City notched a 57% field goal percentage as a team, out-rebounded the Falcons by a 45 board margin, scored 30 points off second chances opportunities and 27 points on the fast break.

- 1H - 8:40 / 34-8 | Jamar Brown cleaned the glass for Kansas City, grabbing his seventh rebound of the first half and kicking the ball out to Kopp for a three to break the Roos cold streak from deep.
- 1H - 5:56 / 42-12 | KC continued its first half offensive barrage with Devonte Hall taking advantage of the Roos ninth offensive rebound of the first half by knocking down a three pointer for the junior's first points of the game.
- 1H - 0:00 / 62-19 | The Roos ushered the ball up quickly down the floor with Kopp handing the rock off to Grady for a buzzer-beating triple to close the half on a 12-0 run.
- 2H - 15:01 / 78-25 | Jamar Brown snagged his fourth offensive rebound to ignite yet another second chance opportunity for the Roos. Following a pass out to the perimeter, Hall dimed up Petty for an electric two-handed jam and gave Hall his ninth assist of the ball game.
- 2H - 9:20 / 97-29 | Coming off a 33-10 run since the start of the second half, the Roos got out on the transition break as Grady lobbed up an alley-oop for Petty who came down with the smooth underhand layup for the finish.
STATS TO NOTE
- Kansas City set a program record for largest margin of victory in emphatic fashion, crushing the Falcons by a 88-point margin, breaking the Roos previous program high of a 73-point margin of victory which came against Bacone in a 111-38 win on Nov. 18, 2019.
- 124 points is the most the Roos have scored in a game under head coach Marvin Menzies, breaking their previous high of 113 points against Calvary Bible on Nov. 14, 2022, the first year of the Menzies era.
- Six Roos scored in double figures (Kopp, Grady, Petty, Ebonkoli, Nyeri, Ijeh) for the first time since Nov. 14, 2022 against Calvary Bible.
- Melvyn Ebonkoli delivered a career night for the Roos, notching a career high in both points and rebounds with 13 and 10 respectively. The senior big man also recorded his first career double-double performance.
- Anderson Kopp led the Roos in scoring on Friday night with 22 points, making it the fifth time the Houston native has registered 20+ points in a game.
