The Starters
- Kansas City Men's Basketball heads into the second game of the year against Kansas Christian following a season-opening, 91-68 win over Hannibal-La Grange on Monday.
- Jamar Brown picked up where he left off in the Roos' win over the Trojans, scoring 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting. He is the first Roo to shoot 75% or better from the field in a 25-point performance since RayQuawndis Mitchell did so against Toledo on Nov. 21, 2022.
- Davontae Hall made his Kansas City debut against HLGU, going for seven points, eight assists and three steals. Through the first four days of the season, just 16 other players in the NCAA have logged a stat line of eight-plus assists and three-plus steals.
- Ten players saw the court for Kansas City and all 10 scored at least two points. Jayson Petty and Cameron Faas followed Brown with 17 and 15 points, respectively.
- The Roos beat Hannibal-La Grange despite having a lower shooting percentage (45.2% vs. 48.2%). This marks just the sixth time in 38 games during the Marvin Menzies era that KC has won a game while shooting at a lower rate that its opponent.
- A win over the Falcons on Friday would give the Roos a 2-0 start for the second consecutive season, something that the Roos have not accomplished since the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.
Scouting Kansas Christian
- Kansas Christian enters Friday's meeting with an 0-4 record on the season. This comes following a 19-11 mark last year.
- Sophomore shooting guard James Lewis is the team's leading scorer, averaging 17.5 points per game on 51.9% shooting from the field.
- Senior Isaac Lane is averaging 16.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
- The Roos and the Falcons have met three times before with Kansas City winning all three meetings. All of the games have been played at the Swinney Center.
- KC's last win over KCC came on Nov. 17, 2021, a 99-36 victory that saw six Kansas City players score in double-digits, including a game-high-tying 17 points from Anderson Kopp.
