SCOUTING SEMO
Â
FIRST FIVE
- Kansas City Men's Basketball returns to the court on Saturday evening for a road trip against in-state rival Southeast Missouri State. The Roos are still searching for their first true road win of the season, claiming a 3-0 record in home games, a 1-2 record in neutral site contests and an 0-2 record on the road.
- The Roos had to get creative with the starting lineup during their trip to Puerto Rico with both Jamar Brown and Cameron Faas missing time. In their stead, Babacar Diallo and Anderson Kopp stepped into the starting lineup for the win over UPR.
- Now eight games into the season, just two players have started every game for Kansas City thus far: Jayson Petty and Melvyn Ebonkoli. The pair are each averaging over 20 minutes per game with Petty averaging a team-high 26.9 minutes per contest.
- Petty has also made his way to the top of the scoring column for Kansas City, averaging 15.3 points per contest, good for sixth-most in the Summit. He has scored in double-digits in every game so far this year, bringing his field goal percentage up to 47.4% after shooting at a 38.4% clip last season.
- The Roos have earned their keep as a rebounding team in the Marvin Menzies era and this team has been no different so far. Kansas City ranks 13th in the nation in rebound margin (+11.3) and 38th in offensive rebounds per game (14.00). Jamar Brown leads the team in total (8.0) and offensive (4.67) boards per game, ranking second in the nation in the latter category.
SCOUTING SEMO
- The Redhawks enter Saturday's contest with a 2-4 record but have not played in over a week since taking on UCA and UNCA at a multi-team event.
- SEMO has three players averaging double-figure scoring, led by Teddy Washington, Jr., who tallies 17.0 points per game on 39.8% shooting.
- This is the 11th meeting between these two teams all-time, with SEMO holding a 6-4 advantage in the series. That includes a 3-1 edge to the Redhawks in games played at Cape Girardeau.
- The Roos took the most recent decision, a 74-44 drubbing in Kansas City exactly one year ago. Jamar Brown and Cameron Faas scored 19 and 16 points, respectively.
