Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Soccer moves to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament following a 2-0 shutout win over Saint Louis on Thursday. The win marked the second time in program history that the Roos have earned a win in the national tournament, the first coming against Milwaukee in 2001.
- Brandon McGaugh logged his fifth clean sheet of the season against the Billikens, his first since a win over No. 3 Denver on Oct. 12. He made four total saves on the game, moving into a tie for third place in the record books for single season shutouts.
- Guille Munoz scored the game-winner for Kansas City in the 67th minute, the first goal of his two-year career with the Roos. He is the 18th player to score a goal this season for KC.
- Summit League Offensive Player of the Year Elie Kisoka notched an assist on Jeremy Francou's 83rd minute goal, giving him 31 points on the season. That mark is a program record and ranks eighth in the NCAA this year.
- Francou has now scored four goals this season in just eight games played, and has started each of the past two matches for KC. He has attempted 14 total shots on the year, scoring a goal on 28.6% of his attempts to lead the team among players that have attempted more than two shots.
- Julien Le Bourdoulous added his ninth assist on the year with a corner kick dish on Munoz' goal. He now stands alone in second place in the Roos' single-season records and is one away from a tie for first.
- This will be Kansas City's fifth game this year against a team ranked in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25. So far, the Roos are 2-2-0 in those games with two wins and a loss to Denver and a loss to UCSB.
Missouri State Notes
- The Bears had a first round bye in the NCAA Tournament, entering with the 15th-overall seed and a 12-3-2 record.
- Missouri State put together a 13-game unbeaten streak to finish the regular season before losing in the MVC Semis to Evansville.
- The Bears have one of the nation's leading scorers on their side in Jesus Barea, who averages 0.88 goals per game.
- These teams are familiar with each other, having played 31 times in the past with MSU owning a 24-5-2 all-time advantage. In games played in Springfield, the Bears are 14-2-1.
- The sides met earlier this season with Kansas City earning its first win in Springfield since 1995 in a 3-2 decision on Sep. 2. Kistmann, Taboada and Luke Hoelting were the goal scorers for KC.
