Kansas City won in comeback fashion yet again, scoring two second half goals and moving to the Round of 16
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - If it had not already, Kansas City Men's Soccer (14-4-3) has now officially put the college soccer world on notice, taking down #15 Missouri State (12-4-2) and advancing to the Third Round of the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history.
The Roos found themselves in an early hole after the Bears opened the scoring in the 32nd minute and seemed to control the pace of the first half. KC had been in those sports before, however, and maintained its composure.Â
A few minor adjustments to the formation were made, and it made all the difference. The Roos were able to get wide and send flurries of crossing attempts into the box. Brevyn Cole sent one to the back post in the 51st minute, finding Sora Shibata for the equalizing goal early in the second half.Â
Later in the half, Julien Le Bourdoulous' corner kick masterclass continued and for the second-straight game, he found the forehead of a defensive center back for the game-winner. This time, it was Ales Kohoutek, scoring his first goal of the season.
The Roos play on, making their statement as one of the final 16 teams remaining in the nation. Next on the docket is #2 Pittsburgh on the road, where KC has earned its chops all season long.
