Kansas City Outlasted in Fourth Quarter, Falls 67-62 to Lindenwood

Emani Bennett’s 20 point performance was not enough to overcome the Lions
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In a game with 10 ties and nine lead changes, Kansas City (2-4) ceded a fourth quarter lead to Lindenwood (4-1) to drop their second consecutive game in the Swinney Center on Friday night. The Roos and Lions were on even footing for the majority of the contest as Kansas City led for over 25 minutes of the game.
The scoring margin never exceeded seven points with Lindenwood going up by as many and the Roos going up by as much as five points. Kansas City out-rebounded Lindenwood by seven, 34-27 and notched 15 offensive rebounds to the Lions six. The Roos converted 20 points off second chances, 18 points off turnovers and 30 points in the paint for the contest.

- 1Q - 0:09 / 20-18 | The Roos broke the tie when Ana Oliveira Dias picked the pocket of a Lion and took charge up the floor, completing the steal and score with a highly contested fast break layup, her first bucket of the game.

- 4Q 1:30 / 60-63 | Em. Bennett broke up an 11-4 Lindenwood run, crossing over her defender to create space for a jump shot that was nothing but net to make it a one possession game late in the fourth quarter.
STATS TO NOTE
- Em. Bennett totaled 20 points on the evening on 9-17 shooting to go along with four rebounds, two assists and two blocks. It was the fourth 20-plus point game for Em. Bennett in her career and the first she's registered since Feb. 10, 2024, against North Dakota.
- Kansas City finished with 15 offensive rebounds and out-rebounded the Lions by nine boards on the offensive side. The Roos came one offensive rebound shy of tying their season high of 16 which was set in the Roos contest against Utah Valley.
- The Roos finished with three scorers in double figures, after Em. Bennett's 20 points, Ugass and Contreras finished with a dozen points each.
