Men's Soccer Closes Home Stand Against No. 18 SIUE, Creighton

The Roos host the Cougars tomorrow at 7:30 p.m., followed by a game against the Bluejays on Tuesday
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Soccer returns to the pitch for a pair of home matches, closing out its four-game home stand. The Roos will begin by taking on No. 18 SIUE on Friday evening, with a match against 2022 College Cup qualifier Creighton on the ledger for Tuesday.
- After failing find the goal throughout the first 270 minutes of the season, Kansas City quickly turned that around against Drake, with Eliott Labeth scoring in the 2nd minute and the Roos tagging on three more goals in the 4-3 victory.
- Hector Taboada scored two goals against the Bulldogs, including the game-winner in the 66th minute. It was the first brace by a Roo since Jony Muñoz did so against Eastern Illinois on Mar. 6, 2021.
- After leading the Roos in shots in each of the first three games, Julien Le Bourdoulous was able to find the back of the net against Drake for his first-career goal. He also earned an assist on two other goals, scoring four points. It was the first multi-assist game by a Roo since Kotaro Hirokawa on Sep. 28 of last season.
SIUE NotesÂ
- The Cougars have opened the 2023 season with three wins and have snuck into the United Soccer Coaches' Top-25, earning the No. 18 ranking.
- SIUE is coming off a 2-0 victory over then-No. 15 Saint Louis, the program's first win over the Billikens since 1982.
- The Roos and Cougars have met 11 times in the past, with SIUE owning a 6-5 advantage in the series. However, Coach Ryan Pore is 1-0 against SIUE, earning a 1-0 win on Sep. 10, 2021.
Creighton Notes
- After qualifying to the 2022 Men's College Cup and entering the season ranked No. 8 in the USC Top-25, the Bluejays are off to a slow start in 2023, notching an 0-2-2 record.
- Nathan Schnur has made 20 saves in the goal for Creighton, including a shutout against UC Irvine on Aug. 27.
- Creighton owns a 13-2-1 advantage all-time and has won the past five meetings against KC.
