Kansas City will start the weekend by taking on Missouri State tomorrow at 6 p.m., also playing UAPB and UT Martin
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City enters the second weekend of the season with a perfect 3-0 record after winning the Florida Atlantic Invitational. It is the first time KC has started the season with three wins in the program's 37-year history.
- Carly Gillen stood out during Kansas City's first three matches, earning MVP honors in Boca Raton and bringing home Summit Defensive Player of the Week honors. She averaged 2.36 kills per set on .415 hitting, adding five solo blocks and 17 block assists.
- Sydney Henry also impressed, earning All-Tournament honors. The sophomore set a career-high with 44 assists against Fairleigh Dickinson, averaging 9.0 assists, 3.0 digs and 1.0 block assists per set.
- Across three matches, KC sent across 34 aces while allowing just 15. Blair Taylor led the Roos with nine aces.
Missouri State Notes
- Kansas City will seek its first win in 12 meetings with the Bears. Missouri State won a 3-1 decision over KC in St. Louis last year.
- Missouri State is off to a 2-1 start on the year, they are led by Deja Bickers in the attack, averaging 3.33 kills per set.
Pine Bluff Notes
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the Roos and Lions.
- UAPB went 0-3 at Tarleton State last weekend. They are hitting .035 as a team entering the weekend.
UT Martin Notes
- The Roos are undefeated all-time against the Skyhawks, with this being the seventh meeting between the teams.
- UT Martin is 1-2 on the young season. Olivia Saunders earned all-tournament honors last weekend.
