Roos Rally for 12th at NCAA Las Vegas Regional

Max Catherine was the Roos' leader across all three days, finishing tied for 25th
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Summit League Champion Kansas City Men's Golf team took to Bear's Best Las Vegas this week for the NCAA Las Vegas Regional, finishing 12th overall to bring the season to a close. A slow start on the first day set the Roos behind the pack, but KC bounced back on the final two days of competition. The team notched the seventh-best score of the final day, jumping Davidson and finishing just five strokes behind Oregon State and Long Beach State. Mesa Falleur had the Roos' round of the tournament on day three, firing off a 66 that included a stretch of six birdies across nine holes. Maxence Catherine was solid across the entire week, finishing below-par each day to tie for 25th.

STATS TO NOTE
- The Roos' final tally of 846 strokes on the week is far-and-away the lowest-scoring performance at the NCAA Regionals in program history, and is tied for the seventh-best 54-hole team score in program history.
- Catherine was the lone Roo to finish under par in each round, going 70-67-71 to finish eight-under. His second round 67 was aided by birdies on eight different holes.
- Catherine and Dutartre performed well on par-four holes, both shooting three-under with an average of 3.90 strokes per hole
- Dutartre tied for the most pars on the tournament with 37.
- The Roos shot well on par-five holes, shooting 28-under with an average of 4.53 strokes per hole.
- Catherine fired off 19 birdies on the tournament, tied for sixth among all competitors.
THE SEASON IN REVIEW
The Roos will go down as the sixth team in the program's history to qualify for the NCAA Regionals, all of which have happened in the past 12 years under Head Coach J.W. VanDenBorn's guidance. After earning Second Team All-Summit League honors, Catherine closed out his collegiate career with a strong showing in Vegas, leading the team. Robards followed up his Honorable Mention All-League nomination by dominating the field at the Summit League Championships, earning MVP honors. Of the Roos' five players that played in the postseason, Catherine is the lone graduate. Dutartre and Falleur are both freshmen, Robards is a sophomore and Gutgesell is junior.
