Kansas City came out flat in the second half dropped its Summit League road opener
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Despite a strong first half and an advantage on the boards, Kansas City Men's Basketball (6-9, 1-1 Summit) came out flat in the second half, falling to St. Thomas (10-5, 2-0 Summit), 77-56. The Roos led by as many as eight points late in the first half, but could not carry the momentum into the second, where they were outscored by 22 points.
It was an advantage on the offensive glass that allowed the Roos to build a lead, using 10 offensive rebounds and six second chance points while allowing the Tommies to just 10 rebounds total in the first half. Melvyn Ebonkoli led the charge, pulling down eight first half boards, six of which came on the offensive end.
The Roos' usual cast of scorers were kept quiet, as Cameron Faas and Jamar Brown combined for 2-of-12 shooting and five points. Instead, Babacar Diallo led the Roos' scoring efforts, dropping a season-high 10 points and pulling down six rebounds.
