Men's Soccer Opens Postseason Play Against Top-Seeded Denver

The Roos will play the Pioneers tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the Summit League Semifinals
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City is into the postseason for the third-straight year, the longest postseason streak by the program since 2012-14. In addition, the Roos will play Denver in the Summit League Championships for the third-straight year. In 2021, Denver advanced on PKs in the semis. Last season, Denver defeated KC 3-0 in the finals. This year, the Roos will look to turn the tide.
- Kansas City had three players named to the Summit League's postseason all-league teams. Julien Le Bourdoulous was named First Team All-League and All-Newcomer Team. Seth Kacich and Edson Murguia were both named Second Team All-League.
- The Roos' streak of three-straight shutouts came to a close in the regular season finale against Denver. In total, Kansas City and keeper Robin Balters played 371-straight minutes without allowing a goal.
- Kansas City will be looking for its fourth-ever conference tournament championship. The previous three came in 2001, '03 and '08, all under Head Coach Rick Benben. In 2008, the Roos defeated Western Illinois and Oakland en route to an NCAA Tournament berth.
- Since making his first appearance in the Roos' 3-0 victory over Western Illinois on Oct. 18, Guille Munoz Villarejo has become a staple in the Roos' lineup, playing the full 90 minutes in each of KC's final three regular season games.
Denver NotesÂ
- Kansas City will look to snap Denver's three-game winning streak in this series, dating back to Nov. 12 of last year.
- From Nov. 6, 2021 to Oct. 15, 2022, the two teams drew in three-straight contests.
- The Roos' last win over the Pioneers came on Oct. 10, 2009 in Denver, a 2-1 victory.
- The Pioneers lead the league and rank 24th in the nation in shot accuracy, at 0.479.
- Keeper Isaac Nehme is second in the NCAA in total shutouts with 11. His goals against average of 0.765 is 23rd nation-wide.
