10/6/2023 10:55:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Kansas City will host the Pioneers tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
Kansas City Notes
- After wrapping up non-conference play on Monday against No. 8 Louisville, Kansas City Men's Soccer turns its full attention back to Summit League play, beginning with a meeting against Denver. Entering Saturday's matchup, the Roos are 0-0-2 in league play.
- Edson Murguia and Julien Le Bourdoulous each scored their second goal of the season in the match at Louisville. Kansas City now has five players with two goals, matching Oral Roberts and Omaha league lead in number of players with multiple goals.
- Now boasting eight total points on the season with two goals and four assists, Le Bourdoulous has reclaimed the team lead in points. He also leads the team in shots (31) and shots on goal (11).
- Christian Koffi assisted Le Bourdoulous on his goal against the Cardinals, giving him three assists on the season. Koffi is still seeking his first goal of the year after notching five goals in a First Team All-League effort last season.
- Brevyn Cole has given the Roos solid options on offense and defense in his freshman campaign. He has played the full 90 minutes as a wing defender in six matches, and has been a threat to make runs in the attacking third, tallying two assists on the year.
- Through 10 matches, Seth Kacich still has played every possible minute on the year, and is the only Roo to boast that stat. He has also attempted one shot in each of Kansas City's first two Summit League contests.
Denver NotesÂ
- Denver enters Saturday's matchup with four points in conference play after a win against St. Thomas and a draw with Oral Roberts.
- The Pios defeated Kansas City 3-0 in last year's Summit League Championship match, snapping a streak of three-straight draws between the two teams.
- DU has owned an advantage against the Roos at Durwood Soccer Stadium, winning 5-of-6 meetings in KC all-time, with the other being a draw.Â
- Denver is led offensively by Oje Ofunrein with eight goals and two assists, followed closely behind by Sam Bassett with six goals and five assists. The duo are first and second in the Summit League in points.
