Despite KC holding a lead for a large portion of the match, a late goal gave the Cardinals the win
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Kansas City Men's Soccer gave No. 8 Louisville a run for its money, but in the end could not prevail, falling 3-2. Edson Murguia and Julien Le Bourdoulous found the back of the net for the Roos, each scoring their second goals of the season.
KEY MOMENTS
- 8' / 1-0 | The Roos struck early as Murguia collected the ball on the edge of the attacking third, making one touch towards the goal and letting a shot rip from nearly 30 yards out. The attempt was perfectly place, flying past the outstretched arms of Louisville's keeper and into the upper-right corner.

- 19' / 1-0 | It looked as if Louisville had an opportunity to equalize, faced with a one-on-one opportunity in front of goal. However, Stefano Camerlengo came off of his line and forced an extra touch and Mael Caisson stepped in to take the ball away.
- 22' / 1-0 | Brice Middleton had an opportunity to extend the lead, taking a shot from the left side of the goal and looking to slot it into the bottom left corner. Louisville's keeper made a kick save to keep the ball out of goal and give the Roos a corner.
- 35' / 1-0 | Caisson made another play on the defensive side of the ball, with Louisville attempting a shot from outside of the box he stepped in and blocked the ball away.
- 52' / 1-1 | A misplayed ball snuck into the back of the net for an own goal as Louisville drew even.
- 61' / 2-1 | Kansas City got out in the counterattack, as Brevyn Cole played a ball up to Christian Koffi. Koffi made a streaking run up the right side, finding Cole towards the middle of the field, who centered the ball for Le Bourdoulous. A shot from the top of the box made its way into the back of the net, putting the Roos back in front.
- 70' / 2-2 | Louisville leveled once again on a set piece that created a point-blank opportunity in front of goal.
- 76' / 2-2 | Le Bourdoulous was looking for his second goal of the night, letting a shot fly from long range. The attempt skidded along the ground before falling just wide of the left post.
- 81' / 2-2 | A header was sent towards goal following a corner kick by the Cardinals, but Camerlengo was there to calmly make the save.
- 89' / 2-3 | Louisville pieced together a good possession in the box and claimed the victory in the final two minutes.
STATS TO NOTE
- Murguia's goal was his second of the year, his first coming from a penalty kick against Omaha last week.
- Le Bourdoulous reclaimed his title as the points leader for Kansas City, with his second goal of the season giving him eight points total.
- The Roos owned the shot advantage in the first half, 5-3. The final shot tally came out to 20-8 in favor of the Cardinals.
