KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Volleyball struggled to find traction in the final game of the KC Roos Classic this afternoon, falling to Wichita State, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 31-29). Raina Smith led the bulk of the Kansas City attack, notching 12 kills on 30 attempts.
KEY MOMENTS
- S1 / 5-5 | Smith's first kill of the day tied things up in the early going.
- S1 / 13-16 | Carly Gillen notched a kill following a KC timeout, drawing the Roos within three points.
- S1 / 22-24 | The Roos fought off three set points, using kills by Rachel Sturdevant and Gillen, but the Shockers finished the set to take the 1-0 lead.
- S2 / 4-3 | A kill by Georgia Mullins gave the Roos an early lead, but WSU responded with a 7-2 run.
- S2 / 14-16 | Kimora Whetstone and Bree Thompson teamed up for a block that brought KC within two points, but the Shockers ended the set on a 9-5 run.
- S3 / 12-17 | A kill by Mullins brought the Roos ended a 5-1 WSU run and sparked a 7-2 run for the Roos, tying things up at 18.
- S3 / 24-22 | A block by Gillen gave the Roos their first set point of the day, but the Shockers would win the next two points and force extra play.

- Kennedy Schritenthal was the only Roo to finish with double-digit digs, tallying 14.
- Kansas City allowed the Shockers to hit 0.229 on the day, including a 0.333 hitting percentage in the second set.
