
Martin Named President of Chamber Development for Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Brandon Martin will take charge of strategic planning, fundraising and member relations
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Athletics' Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics, Dr. Brandon Martin, has been named the President of the Heartland Black Chamber of Commerce (HBCC), it was announced today.
The HBCC leadership team includes community leaders from all around the Kansas City metro area. The Chamber is dedicated to advancing the general welfare and prosperity of the area, improving the black business climate and advocating on behalf of its members. It is the goal of HBCC to provide resources to connect new and existing businesses to resources that promote prosperous growth. The HBCC also serves Black businesses throughout Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska.
Martin's duties as President will include the following:
- Strategic and Annual Planning: Partner with the CEO, Board of Director's and Chamber staff/volunteers to develop and annually update the Chamber's Program of Action/Business Plan and strategic plans, which provide direction for the long-term activities of the Chamber and for the long-term allocation of resources.
- Development and Fundraising: In conjunction with the CEO, Martin will manage a comprehensive marketing process that promotes the Chamber, serves the sponsors and membership, attracts new members and supports Chamber initiatives.
- Advocacy: Monitor issues of strategic importance to business and develop implementation plans for support as necessary. Develop meaningful relationships and communication with community leaders to provide information and advocacy on behalf of the Chamber's members.
- Member Relations: In partnership with the CEO, Martin will be responsible for maintaining the Chamber's engagement with leaders of the organization's membership. Encourage members to financially support Chamber programs, analyze and interpret the needs of members and recommend enhancements to improve service and assistance and to improve membership involvement.

No stranger to leadership roles, this position will fall right in Martin's administrative body of work, personal mission and passion for comprehensive excellence. Along with his duties as Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, he has served as co-chair for the Black AD Alliance and chair of the Summit League Diversity and Inclusion task force and currently serves on the NCAA Division I Council.
