Fenoglio blasts a three-run shot for her 14th career homerun

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas City Softball (8-26) gave Kansas (14-22) all they could handle, but the Roos' big third inning was not enough to hold off the Jayhawks. Kloe Hilbrenner and Delainey Fenoglio combined for four of the Roos' six hits, while KC scored all of their runs on a two-out rally in the third frame in the 4-6 decision.

KEY MOMENTS

Bottom 1 / 0-3 | Kansas used a strong first inning at the plate to grab the momentum.
Top 2 / 0-3 | Sydney Nichols hit a high fly ball to the warning track, but Kansas City could not crack into the scoring column after starting with two leadoff hits in the first two innings.
Top 3 / 4-3 | Hilbrenner started a two-out rally with a double, then Alexis D'Ambrosio brought her in with a single up the middle. Ally Vonfeldt kept the rally going and Fenoglio topped it off with a three-run blast to give KC the lead.
Bottom 3 / 4-4 | A solo shot from the Jayhawks tied up the game.
Bottom 4 / 4-4 | Camryn Stickel shut down the threat with two strikeouts to end the fourth inning.
Bottom 6 / 4-6 | The Jayhawks secured the victory with a two-run homerun.

STATS TO NOTE

Hilbrenner continued her hot hitting with a multi-hit performance, finishing the game with a single, a double and a run scored.
Fenoglio hit her sixth homerun of the season and fourteenth of her career to move into sixth all-time in career homeruns in program history. She finished the day 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run scored and a walk.
Stickel shook a rocky first inning and went 5.1 innings with three strikeouts against the Power Five foes.
Freshman Audrey Danielson came into finish the final two-thirds inning and recorded back-to-back outs, including her first career strikeout in her second appearance this season.

UP NEXT
Kansas City will travel to South Dakota State this weekend for a three-game conference series with the Jackrabbits. The Roos will begin the series on Friday at noon and will finish up the series Saturday to avoid playing on Easter Sunday.
