Riddhi Sharma was the lone Roo to pick up a point
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Tennis fell at the hands of Omaha in their conference opener today, 6-1. A late scratch resulted in a change in the Roos' singles lineup, and Riddhi Sharma came through with a win at the six singles spot.
"It wasn't our day. Omaha came to play and had the energy," Head Coach Kendell Hale said. "We seemed really flat, and not having Grace hurt a little bit, but we still did not play anywhere close to our ability. The true character of our team will be decided by how we bounce back."
Omaha started off strong by picking up the doubles point, winning in the numbers one and three positions. The Roos picked up a win at two doubles, with Grace Ball and Eva Kresovic earning a 6-2 decision.
Ball was scratched from the singles lineup, resulting in all of the Roos' singles players being moved up a slot. Laura Munoz-Baroja battled to force three sets at the number two position, falling 4-6, 6-4, 2-6. Sharma moved into the singles lineup for the first time this season, picking up a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the six spot.
The Roos continue conference play next weekend, traveling to South Dakota for a meeting with the Coyotes on Saturday at 10 a.m.
