Shemarri Allen scored a career-high 34, including a game-tying buzzer beater, but Denver prevailed in the third extra period
DENVER, Colo. – Kansas City (5-10, 1-1 Summit) fought back from a 15-point deficit with just over six minutes remaining to tie the game in regulation time, only to fall 85-83 to Denver (10-5, 1-1 Summit) in triple overtime Thursday night here in Hamilton Gymnasium. The heartbreaking loss gave the Roos their first League loss of the season and it denied coach Marvin Menzies his 250th win as a head coach.
Shemarri Allen scored a career-high 34 points, RayQuawndis Mitchell had 14 and Tyler Andrews added 12 to lead Kansas City. Tommy Bruner scored a career-high 29 points to lead Denver. The Roos were out-rebounded 55-40, had two players foul out with another three finishing the game with four fouls.
Down 53-38 with 6:16 left in the game, the Roos went on a 28-15 run to tie the game at 66-66, thanks to a top of the key 3-pointer by Allen as time expired. Late in the game and overtime periods, it was a dual between Allen and Bruner. Each put their teams on their backs and kept hopes of winning alive. Allen scored 15 of the Roos' last 24 points in regulation and added eight more in the overtime period. Bruner scored 17 points in the overtime periods, including all nine of Denver's points in the third overtime.

COACH MARVIN MENZIES, QUOTED
"I'm very proud of their fight. They were ready to play hard and play with effort ... Good teams play hard and execute."
"(Allen's buzzer-beater) was a big time shot. That's a returner's shot, somebody that has some experience. We don't have a lot of guys that have that."
