Roos Wrap up Home Play Against South Dakota, South Dakota State

Kansas City will host South Dakota tomorrow at 7 p.m., followed by Senior Day against SDSU on Saturday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -Â Kansas City Volleyball enters the second-to-last weekend of the regular season with a pair of important matches on the slate, taking on South Dakota and South Dakota State.
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos currently sit in seventh place in the Summit League standings, two games behind South Dakota State. Saturday's game will be telling in the final standings, with either team being able to gain/lose a full game of ground.
- The Roos will celebrate six seniors on Saturday: Peyton Van Nest, Kennedy Schritenthal, Bree Thompson, Raina Smith, Georgia Mullins and Rachel Sturdevant.
- Van Nest has played all four years in the Roo uniform, stepping into a starter role this year and leading KC with 520 total assists on the year.
- Schritenthal has been a mainstay in KC's lineup since 2019, stepping into the libero role this season. She averages 4.23 digs per set, ranking third in the Summit.
- Thompson transferred to Kansas City from Lipscomb last year, starting in 12 matches and tallying ten-plus kills in eight matches. She has been limited by injury this year.
- Smith is another four-year Roo. This season, she ranks second on the team in kills and has reached double-digits 11 times.
- Mullins transferred to KC this year and has started in all but three matches, notching 1.73 kills per set.
- Sturdevant came to KC this season from NW Missouri, ranking top-six on KCÂ in kills, assists, digs and blocks.
South Dakota Notes
- After dropping a season-opening decision to No. 4 Louisville, the Coyotes have been nearly unstoppable, tallying wins in 24-of-25 matches, including their last 11-straight.
- South Dakota swept the Roos in their first meeting on Oct. 15, led by 16 kills from Elizabeth Juhnke an 11 from Madison Harms.
- Juhnke leads the nation in kills per set, averaging 5.41. The three-time Summit First Teamer has reached 20-plus kills on 14 different occasions.
- The Coyotes rank 45th in the nation and second in the Summit League in blocks per set, averaging 2.46. Harms has been involved in exactly half of those blocks, averaging 1.23 per set.
South Dakota State Notes
- After a six-match losing streak, the Jackrabbits have returned to form recently, winning three-straight matches entering the weekend.
- The Roos were the team that sparked the six-game losing streak, defeating South Dakota State 3-1 on Oct. 13, led by double-digit kills from Odyssey Warren, Raina Smith and Georgia Mullins.
- They Jackrabbits' Crystal Burk ranks second in the Summit in kills per set, averaging 4.40. That mark is the 17th-best in Division One.
- As a team, SDSU leads the Summit League in total digs with a tally of 1,636.
