Kansas City Falls to Lincoln in Season Opener

Shemarri Allen led the Roos with 14 points, with Allen Mukeba and RayQuawndis Mitchell adding 13 each
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball led for nearly the entire game, but surrendered the lead when it counted, falling to Lincoln (Mo.) in the season-opener, 59-56. Shemarri Allen posted a full stat line with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists, with Allen David Mukeba Jr. adding 14 points and 12 boards.
KEY MOMENTS
- 1H / 7-2 | RayQuawndis Mitchell drew a charge on one end of the court, then drove to the lane and finished around a pair of Blue Tigers to give the Roos a lead entering the media timeout.
- 1H / 24-16 | Lincoln drew within a point, but the Roos responded with a seven-point run, capped by Sam Martin finding a soaring Allen for an alley-oop.

- 1H / 35-26 | Allen found Promise C. Idiaru at the top of the key for a three-pointer. The triple was Idiaru's first bucket of his career, sending KC into the half with a nine-point lead.
- 2H / 41-36 | Kansas City went on a scoring drought that lasted over five minutes, but it was ended when Mukeba pulled down a rebound, running in transition and finding Allen for a layup.
- 2H / 50-41 | Lincoln attempted to press Kansas City to no avail, as Allen found Mitchell in the fast break for a dunk. However, the Blue Tigers responded with an 11-2 run to tie the game up.
- 2H / 54-54 | After the Blue Tigers took the lead, Mitchell drove the lane and found Mukeba for a one-handed jam to tie the game up with two minutes remaining. Lincoln would close the game on a 5-2 run to take the victory.

STATS TO NOTE
- Mukeba posted a double-double in his first game as a Roo, posting 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, adding three blocked shots.
- Allen added three blocks of his own, bringing the Roos' total to six on the game. That marks the most by KC since a Feb. 5, 2022 win over Western Illinois.
- Kansas City knocked down 5-of-25 three point shots, including 0-of-11 shooting from long range in the second half.
- The Roos led for 34:18 of the game, with Lincoln leading for just 1:25.
