Starting Five
- Kansas City Women's Basketball looks to return to the win column on the road this week, traveling to Bradley for the second time in three seasons before traveling to Phoenix for a meeting with former WAC rival Grand Canyon.
- E'Lease Stafford has taken over as Kansas City's number one scoring option in recent games, as her average of 19.3 points per game ranks second in the Summit League and 34th in the nation. She has scored 24 points twice in the last three games, surpassing the 20-point mark for the first time since Feb. 29, 2020, when she was still at East Tennessee State. She is the only Roo with more than five three-point makes on the year, averaging 2.5 per game at a 37.5% clip.
- Jocelyn Ewell has seen an expanded role through the Roos' first six games of the year. After averaging 0.8 points and 0.7 rebounds in just 4.1 minutes per game last season, she has started all six games so far this year. Currently, she averages 8.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in 34 minutes. She has scored in double-digits twice and pulled down 10-plus rebounds once.
- Kansas City has established itself as a rebounding team, posting a current rebounding margin of +4.8, which is top-100 in the nation. They have out-rebounded opponents in five of their first six games, pulling down 42.5 boards per contest. Dani Winslow has led the rebounding charge, notching an average of 15.2 per game. Her marks of 9.5 defensive boards and 5.7 offensive boards both rank third in the nation, while her overall average of 15.2 trails only LSU's Angel Reese.
- The Roos take a four-game losing skid to Bradley, and are looking to avoid five-straight losses for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
Bradley Notes
- Led by first-year Head Coach Kate Popovec-Goss, Bradley brings a 2-3 record into Tuesday's match, but have won two-straight against McNeese State and Missouri Baptist.
- The Braves went 4-24 last season, ending the year on an eight-game losing streak.
- Current Kansas City Associate Head Coach Paul Fessler was formerly an assistant/associate head coach at Bradley from 2016-21, helping the Braves post their first back-to-back 20-win seasons in program history.
- The Roos and Braves have played three times in program history, with Bradley taking all three wins.
- Most recently, Kansas City opened the 2020-21 season in Peoria, with Bradley winning, 84-70. Emily Ivory led KC with 21 points on 5-of-8 three-point shooting, while four Braves entered double-digits, led by Lasha Petree with 22.
Grand Canyon Notes
- GCU has opened up its third year under Head Coach Molly Miller with five-straight wins, and will host Arizona State on Wednesday before Saturday's meeting.
- The Lopes are coming off a 22-10 season that saw them qualify for the WAC title game and then to the WNIT for the first time in program history.
- The Roos and Lopes are no strangers, having duked it out as WAC opponents from 2013-20. Kansas City owns a slight edge all-time, 8-7, and have won four-of-seven contests in Phoenix.
- The two teams met for the first time as non-conference opponents last year, with Kansas City running away with an 89-62 win. Brooklyn McDavid exploded for 29 points on 9-of-12 shooting, joined by three other Roos in double-digits. Naudia Evans led GCU with 13 points off the bench.
