
Women's Basketball Falls to Hot-Shooting Trailblazers

E'Lease Stafford scored 24 points in the loss, her first 20-point game since 2020
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A second-half surge pushed Utah Tech past Kansas City Women's Basketball at the Swinney Center this evening, 94-73. The Trailblazers scored 54 points in the second half, aided by 41.2% three-point shooting and 25-of-29 free throw shooting.
Kansas City was led by E'Lease Stafford, who knocked down 5-of-10 three-point shots en route to a 24-point performance. Grace Graham showed her scoring ability in her collegiate debut, finishing with 14 points.
KEY MOMENTS
- 1Q / 6-4 | Dani Winslow found Jocelyn Ewell over top of the defense, who finished through contact for an and-one bucket to put the Roos ahead.
- 1Q / 12-12 | Sanaa' St. Andre got her second steal and fast-break layup in the span of a minute, bringing the Roos even late in the first quarter.
- 2Q / 20-25 | Grace Graham buried a three-pointer for the first points of her collegiate career, bringing the Roos within five points, but the Trailblazers quickly extended the lead out to double-digits.
- 2Q / 31-34 | Winslow jumped into the passing lane on an inbounds play and got her second steal of the day, converting on the other end for a bucket that cut the deficit down to three points.
- 3Q / 41-49 | Stafford hit her third three-pointer of the day, bringing the Roos within single digits for the final time on the game. Utah Tech would proceed to use a ten-point run to open up an 18-point lead.

- 4Q / 71-89 | After the Trailblazers opened the lead up to as many as 28 points, Graham hit her fourth triple of the day, bringing the Roos within 18. That was as close as KC would get and Utah Tech claimed the victory.
STATS TO NOTE
- Stafford finished with 24 points, her highest scoring output since going for a career-high 29 points on Feb. 6, 2020 while at Eastern Tennessee State. It also marked her first 20-point performance since Feb. 29, 2020.
- Winslow pulled down 12 rebounds on the night, her third-consecutive double-digit rebounding performance. Previously, she had reached double-digits just once on her career.
- Ewell finished the day with nine points and a career-high 12 rebounds, nearly notching her first-career double-double.
- Kansas City was outscored 28-30 in the paint, allowing the Trailblazers to shoot 54.4% from the field.
