The partnership will include tickets for faculty and staff, as well as incentives for non-recruiting aged students
Kansas City, MO - Kansas City Athletics has announced an expanded partnership with the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS), offering enhanced engagement opportunities for staff, administration and students.
The partnership aims to grow upon the recent KCPS Kids Day Game, held on Nov. 7. Over 1,200 elementary-age students attended the KC Women's Basketball game versus Westminster College as part of a sold-out crowd for the 11:00 a.m. game. The energy and enthusiasm of the students, who were guests of University Health, helped the Roos to a 91-49 victory.
The Roos have created a program that will allow KCPS staff, administration and UMKC Alumni to attend Kansas City Men's and Women's basketball games during the 2022-23 season. The program will include both non-conference games and Summit League competition.
"Our partnership with KCPS is timely and imperative in our community engagement efforts throughout Kansas City," Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Dr. Brandon Martin said. "We are Kansas City's College Team and we are proud to have all members of KCPS be a part of our journey toward comprehensive excellence. I'm proud to welcome them to our Roo family!"
The partnership also rewards non-recruiting aged students the ability to attend a game if they have a GPA over 2.5. The program is designed as an incentive for excellence in the classroom, and beyond.
"We value our partnership with UMKC and Kansas City Athletics to share the meaningful collegiate athletics experience with KCPS," KCPS Interim Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Collier said. "UMKC continues to be a wonderful partner as we look for ways to provide quality, significant opportunities to our students and staff."
