Winslow Sets Rebounds Record in Win Over Tennessee State

Dani Winslow pulled down 24 rebounds in the win, breaking a 37-year-old program record
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Basketball dominated Tennessee State from start to finish, leading wire-to-wire in the 82-70 win. Dani Winslow was the story of the night, setting a program record by grabbing 24 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end. As a team, Kansas City out-rebounded the Tigers by a 50-35 margin.

- 1Q / 7-0 | The Roos got out to a quick start, beginning with a three by Sanaa' St. Andre and then using buckets by Jocelyn Ewell and Winslow to force a Tennessee State timeout.

- 2Q / 31-21 | The Tigers drew back within single digits, but Stafford found a wide-open RaVon Nero underneath the basket to extend the lead back to double-digits.
- 3Q / 49-34 | After Tennessee State opened the half by drawing within five, the Roos went on a 10-point run, including a pair of buckets by Nero.
- 3Q / 60-39 | The Roos used buckets by Stafford, Green and St. Andre to put together a game-high 11-point run that gave KC a 21-point lead.
- 4Q / 70-49 | Green pulled down a rebound and ran in transition, finding St. Andre for an easy lay-in.
- 4Q / 77-62 | Winslow pulled down her 23rd rebound of the day, tying the program record. On the other end, St. Andre drew a foul and knocked down 1-of-2 free throws. Winslow would pull down rebound number 24 two possessions later to break the program record.

STATS TO NOTE
- Winslow's 24 rebounds sets a program record that had previously stood for 37 years. Stephanie Worthy had held the record for over three decades, pulling down 23 rebounds on Feb. 17, 1986 against Mid-America Nazarene.
- Winslow pulled down 12 rebounds in the first quarter and 16 in the first half, also setting program records with those marks.
- St. Andre led the Roos' scoring efforts with a career-high 22 points, breaking her previous high of 16, reached against SIUE on Dec. 12, 2020.
- Jocelyn Ewell had a career night as well, notching career-highs in points (10), rebounds (8) and blocks (4).
- Kansas City scored effectively in the fast break, outscoring the Tigers 19-9.
- The win gives Head Coach Dionnah Jackson-Durrett a 2-0 start to her head coaching career and her first victory over a Division One opponent.
