Kansas City Notes
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos enter the second week of Summit League play with an 11-3 record, following wins over North Dakota State and North Dakota last weekend. With a win percentage of .786, KC is ranked second in the Summit League and 39th in the nation.
- With 3,889 total assists in her career, Alli Schomers ranks third in program history. She has dished out 600 assists so far this season, which ranks second out of all Division One players.
- De'Janae Arnold is hitting .410 through 14 matches, which is second in the Summit League and 22nd in the nation. If the season ended today, she would have the third-best single-season hitting percentage in program history.
- Fresh off of her eighth double-double of the year in which she posted a career-high 26 digs, Melanie Brecka has now compiled 22 double-doubles. Her current mark of 2.89 digs per set would be a single-season career-high.
- Brecka, Maddie Renn and Kennedy Schritenthal each have at least 19 service aces on the year, ranking in the top-five in the Summit League and top-100 in the NCAA.
- Brecka's efficiency puts her near the top of the nation. She ranks 49th in total kills with 192, but is 50 spots lower in total attacks, ranking 99th with 485.
- Bree Thompson has seen her playing time and production increase in the recent weeks. Since her first kill of the year against Memphis, she has increased her season-high in each of the past four matches.
Denver Notes
- Denver won the 2020 Summit League Regular Season title with a 13-2 conference record, and have carried that momentum into the 2021 season, beginning the year with an 11-1 record.
- Of the Pioneers' 11 wins, nine of them have been in straight sets, including sweeps of Western Illinois and St. Thomas last week.
- The Pios are led by 2020 Summit League First Teamer Lydia Bartalo, who averages 3.78 points per set. She is far from the only threat as Denver has five players averaging over five kills per set.
South Dakota State Notes
- The Jackrabbits opened up Summit League play with a loss against South Dakota, and go into a Tuesday matchup with North Dakota with an 8-4 record.
- SDSU is led by Crystal Burke, who averages a blistering 4.02 kills per set. Burke can get involved in the defense as well, posting five matches with double-digit digs.
- The Jackrabbits are precise in the attack, hitting at a .247 clip as a team. That mark is the 57th-best in Division One.
- SDSU can also make a difference with its blocking game, averaging 2.3 blocks per set. That ranks third in the Summit League and 80th nationwide.
