Volleyball Travels to N.C. for Black & Gold Challenge

The Roos will take on Appalachian State, East Tennessee State and Old Dominion this weekend
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After beginning the season 2-1 in Columbia, Mo. last weekend, Kansas City Volleyball takes to North Carolina for the Black & Gold Challenge, where they will take on Appalachian State, East Tennessee State and Old Dominion.
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City enters the weekend on a two-match win streak, winning the final two games of its trip to Columbia. One of those wins came against Missouri, the first win over a ranked/RV team in program history.
- Having played in the first 12 sets of the season, Alli Schomers has extended her program-record sets played streak to 413.
- Melanie Brecka notched the Roos' first double-double of the season in the win over Missouri with 20 kills and 10 digs.
- Through three matches, Maddie Renn leads the Roos with 41 digs. Brecka is the next closest with 22.
- This will be the first meeting between the Roos and all three of their opponents this weekend.
Appalachian State Notes
- The Mountaineers will be playing at home for the second weekend in a row, having started the season 2-1 in the Appalachian Invitational with five set wins over Eastern Kentucky and Radford.
East Tennessee State Notes
- East Tennessee State began the year in Knoxville, Tenn. this past weekend, falling in straight sets to Texas Tech and Tennessee, and earning a sweep over NC State.
Old Dominion Notes
- The Monarchs went 1-2 in the Old Dominion Invitational to open the season, earning a 3-1 victory over Hampton in their season opener before dropping straight-set decisions to West Virginia and Loyola (Md.).
