The Roos will take on the reigning A10 champions tomorrow at 6 p.m.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Soccer takes to the road on Saturday evening for a matchup with the reigning A10 Champion Dayton Flyers. The match will be the final tune-up for the Roos before they begin Summit League play next Saturday at Oral Roberts.
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City enters Saturday's match coming off of its first win of the season, a 1-0 victory over SIUE. The Roos' stifling defense limited the Cougars to just four shots on the game.
- The Roos will look to pick up their second-straight win on Saturday. Should they do so, it would be the second instance of back-to-back in Coach Ryan Pore's career.
- Cooper Clark picked up his second shutout as a Roo and the fifth of his college career in last week's victory. On the season, Clark is averaging 5.0 saves per game, best in the Summit and 17th in Division One.
- Jony Munoz scored his first goal of the season against SIUE, a game-winner in the 81st minute. Muñoz led the Roos last season, scoring six goals and logging 15 total points.
- The Roos have kept consistent with a back line of Cesar Mont Soler, Kotaro Hirokawa, Gustavo Leal Murtha and Seth Kacich. All four defenders have played at least 400 of the possible 454 minutes.
- Kansas City has scored five goals on the season, each by different players. Four of the five goal scorers, Edson Murguia, Vlad Jokic, Kazuki Kimura and Shfeo Lar, are all first-year players for Pore.
- With his second shutout as a Roo, Clark moved into a tie for ninth-most shutouts in program history. Additionally, he has made 77 saves in his two seasons in Kansas City. With just 16 more saves he would move into the Roos' top-10 list.
Dayton NotesÂ
- Coming off a 2020 A10 Regular Season Championship, Dayton enters Saturday's match with a 3-2-1 record.
- After beginning the year 3-0-1, the Flyers have lost their last two matches to Western Michigan and Oakland.Â
- Dayton is led by 17th-year head coach Dennis Currier, who has guided the squad to four A10 regular season championships and has qualified for two NCAA Tournament appearances.
- The Flyers' leading goal-scorer is Forester Ajago, who has scored four goals on 14 shots. Dayton averages 1.8 goals per game as a team.
