Roos Finish Fourth at Summit Championships

Corey Teaford's fourth-place finish led the Roos' final round charge
NEWTON, Kan. - Corey Teaford fired off the third-best round of the day, and Kansas City Men's Golf moved up two spots in the standings to finish fourth at the Summit League Men's Golf Championships at Sand Creek Station.
Teaford entered the day with a team-low score of four-over, and began his final round hot, birdieing three of the first five holes. He rattled off three more birdies throughout the round, thriving on par-five holes to finish two-under on the round. Teaford shot five-under on par-fives on the tournament, a tie for the best in the field. His two-over overall finish earned him a tie for fourth place and a spot on the Summit League All-Tournament team.
Maxence Catherine was the Roos' second-best shooter on the day, finishing with an even-par 72. He finished five-over on the tournament for a tie for 12th-place. Catherine was the best par-three player in the tournament, shooting a total score of one-under on such holes across three rounds.Â
Thomas Luger stepped in as a substitute today playing his only round of the weekend, and made his round count. He went for par on each of the first 13 holes on the day, finishing with a two-over 74. Paul Foulquie shot one-under on the back nine to finish with a 75 and McCain Schellhardt rounded out the Roos' shooting with a 79.
Kansas City found itself in a battle with South Dakota and South Dakota State for the fourth-place spot going into the final holes, with each team hovering around the 27-over mark. Teaford, Catherine, Foulquie and Luger combined for two-under scoring on holes 16, 17 and 18 to secure a one-stroke advantage over both the Coyotes and the Jackrabbits.
