Roos Host Green Bay tomorrow at 7 p.m. and travel to SIUE on Sunday at 2 p.m.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball has two games this weekend in final preparation for the beginning of Summit League play, hosting Green Bay tomorrow at 7 p.m. before traveling to SIUE for a game on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos will look to improve upon their 4-4 record as they host Green Bay and travel to SIUE. If the Roos were to win both games, it would match their best 10-game start since 2016-17.
- Anderson Kopp is knocking down triples with the best of them to begin the season. He is making 2.5 per game at a 51.3% rate, which is the 13th-best three-point percentage in the nation among qualifying players.
- Sam Martin comes off of a career game, scoring 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting against Calvary. Martin has appeared in every game this season and is shooting at a 58.1% rate from the field.
- These games mark the final two tune-up games for the Roos before they head into their second year in the Summit League. Last year, they finished sixth with a 7-7 conference record.
- Kansas City averages 7.6 steals per game, which ranks second in the Summit League. Six Roos have notched games of three-plus steals on the season, led by Shemarri Allen with a 1.3 steals per game average.
Scouting Green Bay
- The Phoenix come to town after starting the year 2-6, including a 1-1 start in Horizon League play.
- Green Bay lost its most recent contest, a 82-58 decision to Youngstown State.Â
- Emmanuel Ansong (13.8) and Donovan Ivory (11.5) both average double-digit scoring to lead the Phoenix.
- Lucas Stieber is the team's main distributor, averaging 4.33 assists per game, which ranks seventh in Division One.
Series History
- The Roos and Phoenix have met six times in the past, playing to a 3-3 draw. Kansas City has owned the series recently, winning three of the last four meetings.
- The last meeting saw Kansas City win a 92-82 decision in the first round of the 2017 CBI Tournament.
- The Roos have won the last two meetings in KC.
Scouting SIUE
- The Cougars hold a 4-6 record entering Sunday's contest, but have won two of their last three games.
- SIUE dismantled Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 8, 80-59. Ray'Sean Taylor led the Cougars, scoring 25 points.
- Taylor leads the team with a 17.8 points per game average, and has dropped 20-plus in four games.
- The Cougars have played two Summit League teams already, falling to St. Thomas and defeating Omaha.
Series History
- The Roos and Cougars played three times from 2008-10, with Kansas City holding a 2-1 advantage.
- The Roos have won the last two games, most recently winning 82-64 on Nov. 24, 2010.
- The first two meetings between the two teams were each decided by less than 10 points.
