Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Women's Basketball seeks to clinch the best 10-game start in the program's NCAA history on Sunday at Tennessee State. The 1991-92 Roos currently hold that title, starting the year 8-2 en route to a 24-7 finish.
- Additionally, having won eight-straight games, the Roos are currently tied with the 1989-90 Roos for the second-longest winning streak in program history. The 1990-91 team won 10-straight, the longest in program history.
- Kansas City remains one of the best three-point shooting teams in the nation, knocking down long range shots at a 39.4% clip, which ranks 12th nationwide. The tandem of Naomie Alnatas ( .724 3FG%, best in the nation) and Mandy Willems (2.89 3PG, 27th in the nation) lead the Roos' bombs-away style.
- Paige Bradford, Kiara Bradley and Brooklyn McDavid all average over 7.5 rebounds per game to pace KC's Summit-leading 43.8 RPG average.
- Five Roos have logged games of at least three steals so far this season. Alnatas has had five such games this year and averages 2.11 per game, which ranks second in the Summit.
Scouting Tennessee State
- The Tigers enter Sunday's matchup with a 3-5 record, having lost their last three contests. That includes a 67-56 loss at the hands of fellow Summit League foe Omaha.
- As a team, Tennesse State shoots 24.2% from beyond the three point line. Kansas City has held opponents to 22.7% three-point shooting, which could be a trend to watch.
- Tatyana Davis (14.1) and Gia Adams (12.9) are the Tigers two double-digit scorers.
Series History
- The Roos and Tigers have met just once in the past, a 66-59 Kansas City win in 1988.
Scouting Santa Clara
- Like the Roos, Santa Clara also has just one loss on the year. They are 5-1 with the lone loss coming at the hands of Long Beach State.
- Â The Broncos will play Kansas on Sunday before coming to KC.
- The battle of the boards will be a tell-tale sign, as Santa Clara out-rebounds opponents by an average of 8.7 per game.
- Four scorers average double digits for the Broncos, led by Lindsey VanAllen's 16.3 PPG.
Series History
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the Roos and the Broncos.
