The Roos will begin with a semifinal match against Denver tomorrow at 11 a.m.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After finishing conference play with a draw against Denver, the Roos will take on the Pios again tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Summit League semifinals. Should KC win, they would play the winner between Oral Roberts and Omaha for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
Kansas City Notes
- The Roos enter the Summit League Tournament with a 3-7-4 record, owning a 2-2-2 mark in conference play.Â
- With eight points in Summit League play, the Roos earned the fourth seed. It is the highest seed Kansas City has received since the 2014 Roos entered the WAC Tournament with the fourth seed.
- Kansas City is battle-tested, having played five ranked opponents on the season, the most in program history. Against top-25 teams, Kansas City holds a 0-4-1 mark.
- The Roos look to win the conference tournament for the first time since the 2008 Roos defeated Western Illinois and Oakland en route to an NCAA Tournament qualification.
- KC holds a 0-1-2 record against the other teams participating in the Tournament, falling to Omaha and drawing with Denver and Oral Roberts.
- Back-to-back Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year Cooper Clark ranks among the tops in the nation in saves per game, averaging 4.71 per game. That is the best in the conference and 19th in Division One.
- Kotaro Hirokawa is the lone Roo besides Clark to start every game for Kansas City, having played 1,219 minutes on the year. He scored the equalizing PK in the Roos' draw with Denver last weekend.
- Vlad Jokic leads KC with three goals on the year. Behind him, Seth Kacich, Kazuki Kimura, Hugo von Reis and Jony Munoz all have two.
Denver Notes
- The Roos and Pioneers played to a 1-1 draw last weekend, with Kengo Ohira scoring the Pios' lone goal.
- Denver currently ranks 76th in the NCAA RPI rankings, highest of any Summit League team.
Oral Roberts Notes
- Kansas City played ORU to a 1-1 draw in late September, as Dante Brigida and Vlad Jokic scored the game's two goals.
- Brigida is an offensive powerhouse, ranking top-50 in the nation in game-winners, goals per game and shots on goal per game.
Omaha Notes
- After defeating the Mavs twice last season, the Roos fell in a 2-0 decision to Omaha in early October.
- The Mavericks' Nathanael Sallah is a stalwart in the net, allowing just .715 goals per game.
