Emma Wilson scored her second game-winner in as many games, and Mackenzie Caldwell posted another shutout
FARGO, N.D. - Kansas City Women's Soccer notched its second-straight victory this afternoon behind another game-winner from Emma Wilson, defeating North Dakota State, 1-0. Mackenzie Caldwell posted her second shutout of the weekend, the fourth of her career.
KEY MOMENTS
- 11' | Wilson was the first for either side to attempt a shot on the day, sending the chance wide of the goal.
- 14' | Wilson tried for goal yet again on a corner kick from Sophia Limongi. The pass was placed perfectly at Wilson's foot, but she could not quite make clean contact, pushing it to the left side of the goal.
- 24' | North Dakota State earned its first shot of the day, but it was easily handled by Caldwell.
- 35' | Rileigh Kuhns ripped a shot from outside of the box, but it was blocked by the NDSU defense.
- 41' | NDSU pieced together a dangerous opportunity and pulled Caldwell off her line, but she made a sprawling save to keep the Bison out of goal.
- 60' | The Roos finally struck when a free kick from the defensive third was sent to Kassi Ginther at midfield. Ginther turned and sent a through ball to Emily Jensen, who made a run up the right sideline before playing the ball to the near post. Before NDSU's keeper could jump in to deflect the ball, Wilson came with a flying header to redirect it into the back of the net and put Kansas City ahead, 1-0.
- 72' | Kuhns found another shot opportunity from 28 yards out, sending it screaming towards the goal. NDSU's keeper was forced to lay out and just get an arm on the ball, setting up a KC corner.
- 82' | When a set piece by the Bison was sent into the box, the Roos' backline stood strong, blocking two shots.
- 88' | North Dakota State had an opportunity for one final shot in the game, but the contact was weak and Caldwell fell on the ball to clinch the victory.
