Women's Soccer Set to Host Western Illinois, St. Thomas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Soccer returns home after a big conference win over Omaha to host Western Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. and St. Thomas on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Kansas City Notes
- A disappointing result against Denver was responded to with a 2-1 win over Omaha, snapping the Mavs' three-game win streak. The Roos will look to improve upon their fifth-place Summit League spot this weekend against WIU and UST.
- Mackenzie Caldwell was a rock in the net against Omaha, tallying 11 saves and notching her third winning decision of the year. Her average of 6.42 saves per game is first in the Summit and 19th in Division One.
- Sarah Karloff has stepped into a larger role in recent weeks, playing 25-plus minutes in three of the last four games. She scored her first goal of the season in the form of the game-winner against Omaha on Sunday.
- Kassi Ginther leads the Roos with five goals on the year, her single-season career-high. Her average of .313 goals per game ranks 10th in the Summit.
- Morgan McLaughlin had not registered an assist in her first two years in a KC uniform, but leads the team with three total assists this season. She has started all 16 games and has played 80-plus minutes 12 times.
Western Illinois Notes
- The Leathernecks entered conference play with a 6-2-1 record, but have lost four of their first five Summit League contests. The lone win came against South Dakota on Oct. 3.
- Amy Andrews is one of the Summit League's finest goal scorers, averaging .750 per game. She ranks top-two in the conference in goals, points and shote per game and shot accuracy.
- After averaging 1.89 goals per game through noncon play, WIU has scored just three goals in five Summit League games.
St. Thomas Notes
- The Tommies have begun their first year of Summit League play with a 1-4-0 record, earning a win over Western Illinois last Sunday.Â
- Abby Brantner will carry the bulk of St. Thomas's offensive load, averaging a Summit League-leading 3.38 shots per game.
- The Tommies have taken just 44 corner kicks on the year, ranking ninth in the Summit. They have conceded a total of 79 corner kicks to their opponents.
