Mackenzie Caldwell made seven saves to keep the Roos in the game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Soccer fought through a physical battle on a chilly night, but came just short against Western Illinois, falling 1-0. Mackenzie Caldwell stood strong in the goal, making seven saves on the night.

KEY MOMENTS

3' | Meghan White started the game off in the right direction for the Roos, sending a shot towards goal that was just wide of the mark.
8' | Caldwell made a diving save to the left of net, keeping the Leathernecks away from the goal.
15' | A shot from Emma Wilson was blocked by the Leathernecks keeper.

"It was a physical game, I thought we struggled matching their physicality and intensity in the first half, but I thought the second half was much better for us. We created some really good chances, unfortunately we didn't capitalize on them."
"We changed our formation to get numbers forward and got ourselves into good position, just came up a little unlucky and could've done a little bit better on some of the chances. We want to get ourselves in that position to win the game, and I thought we did that. We're disappointed in the result, but now everything that we're thinking about is for Sunday."
