KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Following last night's sweep of South Dakota State, Kansas City Volleyball will look to start a winning streak against South Dakota tomorrow at 1 p.m., followed by a meeting with Oral Roberts on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City has started Summit League play with a 3-1 record, including a sweep of South Dakota State. This is the fourth season in a row that KC has won at least three of their first four games to begin conference play.
- The Roos and South Dakota competed three times last season, with all games turning into instant classics. All three matches went to five sets, with the Roos winning both regular season matchups and South Dakota defeating KC in the Summit League Semifinals.
- The Roos and Golden Eagles are familiar foes, having played 47 times in the past. While Oral Roberts dominated the early stages of the rivalry, the Roos own a 5-4 record in the last nine meetings.
- After logging a combined 59 assists in Kansas City's last two games, Alli Schomers has moved into the top spot in the nation in total assists on the year with 659. Her average of 10.63 assists per set also leads the Summit.
- The Roos are one of the top-100 hitting teams in the nation, logging a team hitting percentage of .232, which is 93rd in Division One. KC has hit above .300 in four matches this year after reaching that mark just once last season.
- Melanie Brecka has notched 249.0 points thus far in the season, good for 22nd in the nation and best in the Summit League. Her mark of 4.02 points per set is third in the conference.
- As a team, the Roos average 12.94 kills per set, which ranks third in the Summit League and 106th among Division One teams.
South Dakota Notes

Oral Roberts Notes
- After a 3-15 year last season, Frank Craig has helped turn the Golden Eagles around in his second year at the helm. ORU is 9-3 on the year and will take on SDSU and Omaha before meeting the Roos.
- ORU earned a big win over South Dakota on Sep. 30, their first win over the Coyotes since 2017.
- A well-rounded team, the Golden Eagles currently rank top-three in the Summit League in aces, assists and kills per set.
