The Roos held the Bison to a season-low score, led by Williams's five steals and Lamar's four blocks
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Without it's top-three scorers, Kansas City (7-10, 3-5) used lockdown defense to control the pace and held North Dakota State (10-8, 8-2) to a season-low scoring output, defeating the Bison 49-47.
In yesterday's 67-71 loss, the Roos allowed NDSU to score 43 points in the second half. The narrative was much different this evening, as Kansas City held the Bison to just 20 points on 30.8% second half shooting.
Zion Williams led the Roos from the field, scoring a career-high 12 points for the second game in a row. His efforts began on the defensive end, as he pulled down seven rebounds and stole the ball a career-high-tying five times.
Arkel Lamar continued to impress in his fourth game with Kansas City. The transfer forward scored 11 points, adding nine rebounds and a career-high four blocks. He also came up with the Roos' last field goal of the game, a layup through two defenders that extended Kansas City's lead to three with 1:10 remaining in the game.
Redshirt freshman Jacob Johnson finished in double digits for the fifth time this season, finishing with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Franck Kamgain added seven, playing the full 40 minutes and leading the Roos with a season-high six assists.
With the win over the Summit League's third-ranked team, Kansas City moves to 3-1 in Summit League play on the second day of two-day series. It also hands the Bison just its second loss of conference play, with the first coming in overtime at the hands of North Dakota.
The Roos will have a week of rest before hosting Omaha at the Swinney Center on Feb. 12 and 13 on the Roo Sports Network.
