KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Men's Basketball graduated senior Jordan Giles has signed a professional contract to play in Europe with the Racing Club Luxembourg, announced Thursday by the club. Racing Club Luxembourg is one of 10 teams to compete in the Total League, which is the highest men's basketball league in the country of Luxembourg.
Giles was a four-year impact player for the Roos finishing his final season in 2019-20. He was a model of consistency ranking second in school history with 119 games played. He also stands No. 8 in career free throws made (260) and No. 14 in career points (936). This past season, Giles appeared in all 30 games ranking second on the team in scoring average (10.5), third in blocks (0.5), shooting percentage (.496) and fourth in rebounding (3.5). In the conference, he compiled the 10th-best scoring average in league games only (13.3). For his career, he averaged 7.9 points and 2.9 rebounds, shooting 46.9 percent overall.
"I'm excited for Jordan as he worked tremendously hard over his career to attain this opportunity," said head coach Billy Donlon. "They are getting an outstanding player, more importantly, they are getting one of the best young people I've had the privilege to coach."
Currently, Giles is one of 13 players on the roster, and one of two Americans, per league rules. He is scheduled to report to the team by August 1st.
Founded in 1950, the Racing Club Luxembourg has won the national championship three times. Typically, the season runs from late September through early March. During the regular season, each team plays the other nine teams twice, one at home and one away. After that, the top six teams move on to the second stage, where they play a further 10 games against each other. The top four teams at the conclusion of the second stage move on to the playoffs.
"I'm very excited to get to work there," said Giles. "I am finally living my dream and goal of being a professional basketball player… now I just have to prove to everyone that I belong. All the long days, nights and early mornings sacrificed for basketball while in school paid off. My family is very happy for me and they can't wait to see what I accomplish in my career."
