Kruse and Giraldo Earn First Win of the Season in Doubles
OMAHA, Neb. - Kansas City Men's Tennis traveled to Omaha today for a match against Creighton, falling 7-0.
"Nothing went our way today," Head Coach Kendell Hale said. "We learn and move on."
The Roos dropped the doubles point to the Bluejays, but Diego Giraldo and Tom Kruse picked up a win at the one spot, defeating Mac Mease and Nick Campbell, 6-4.
Three Roos were able to push their singles match to three sets, but each fell in a super tiebreak. In one singles, Giraldo took the second set 6-1 after falling in the first, but dropped the third set 10-4. Kruse found himself in a simliar situation at the two spot, playing in his third three-set match in a row. He fell in a first set tiebreak, won the second set 6-3, but could not carry his momentum, falling 10-4 in the third. Jake Fraunfelder put up a strong fight at five singles, splitting the first two sets before falling 10-8 in the third.
The Roos will continue seeking their first win of the season on Friday as they host Oral Roberts at 1 PM.
