
Dr. Martin Appointed to KC Sports Commission Board of Directors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Director of Athletics Dr. Brandon Martin was recently appointed to the Kansas City Sports Commission Board of Directors. He will serve a three-year term as a Board member.

As a member of the board, Dr. Martin will assist fellow members in coordinating, sponsoring and promoting sporting events, and related enterprises at all levels in sports within the eight-county metro Kansas City area. On the Kansas state line, those counties include: Johnson, Wyandotte, and Leavenworth; on the Missouri state line, those counties include: Platte, Clay, Ray, Jackson, and Cass. In his role, he will also serve as a knowledgeable ambassador and proactive advocate of the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission and bring new ideas, partners, and financial resources to the organization.

Since 1966, the Sports Commission has worked to promote sports and recreation at every level by sponsoring annual youth clinics, community and membership luncheons and community-sponsored athletic events. The organization has helped generate in excess of $750 million in estimated economic impact to the Kansas City metropolitan area.

The non-profit organization also works behind the scenes to attract, retain and facilitate major sporting events and organizations in the community and promote the benefits of youth sports. The KC Sports Commission makes more than 25 annual events available to the community. They consistently work to attract, retain and facilitate local and national sporting events in Kansas City.
