
Roos Sweep Billikens in Regular Season Finale

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UMKC men's tennis team (11-9) closed out the regular season with a 7-0 win over Saint Louis (8-9) on Friday afternoon at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Hunter Clark and Anil Patel got the Roos started with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Oscar Pachon and Kenji Yanaba.
SLU evened doubles at one match apiece when Tom Kruse and Diego Giraldo fell to John and Justin Nogalski at No. 2, 6-4, but the Roos No. 1 pairing of No. 72 Airam Castellano and Alex Pozo beat David Ferragut and Juan Calero, 7-5.
Kruse pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 2-0, ret. win over Calero at No. 3 and Pozo followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over John Nogalski at No. 2. Giraldo then clinched the match for UMKC with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Pachon at No. 4.
Castellano then beat Ferragut at No. 1, 6-4, 6-4, while Patel took down Yanaba at No. 6, 7-5, 6-4. Clark then closed out the match for UMKC with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Justin Nogalski at No. 5.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Apr. 28 when they take on the winner of Seattle U and UT Rio Grande Valley in the WAC Championship at 3 p.m. CT in Mesa, Ariz.
