The 'Roos rebounded with a1-1 draw against Creighton on Sunday, Aug. 21. Sophomore forward Kelsey Mothershead (Smithville, Mo.) scored UMKC's goal in the 50th minute off an assist from fellow sophomore Lexie Howard (Kearney, Mo.) to put the 'Roos up, but the Bluejays answered with a goal in the 61st minute and neither team were able to add to their score through two overtimes.
About the Bears
Missouri State opened the season 0-1, with a loss to Texas Tech on Sunday, Aug. 21. The Bears were originally scheduled to play Arkansas State on Friday, Aug. 19, but rain forced a cancellation in their season opener. In the match against TTU, the Bears were out-shot 20-2, but six saves from goalkeeper Evan Stamp kept the damage to a minimum.
Series History
The 'Roos and Bears have played every year since the UMKC women's soccer program's inception in 2009. Missouri State holds a 6-1-0 advantage in the all-time series history, with all-seven games decided by just one goal. It took overtime in 2010 to determine a winner, and two overtimes in 2011. UMKC picked up their lone win in the series in 2014 with a 1-0 victory in Kansas City.
