The following is the first installment of “'Roos Introducing 'Roos,” a multi-part series introducing the UMKC softball newcomers as told by a returning member of the squad. Noteworthy facts about head coach Meredith Smith Neal's latest additions will be unveiled on a weekly basis as the team approaches the 2017 season.
Senior Abby Warkentine starts things off by getting us acquainted with junior pitcher Lynsey Conner.
Lynsey Conner, a junior transfer pitcher from Pittsburg State University is a Peggs, Oklahoma native, and the daughter of Audra and D.J. Conner. Her mother is a talent search director for a federal grant program, and her father is a sprinkler fitter for Journeyman. She has one older brother named Trey, who is currently a student at Oklahoma State University. Lynsey also has a younger sister named Macey, who is currently a freshman at Tahlequah High School in Oklahoma. In high school Lynsey played four years of softball and basketball. She plans get her bachelor's degree in psychology in hopes of becoming an occupational therapist. She believes that, “in order to help the body you have to understand a person's mentality and motivations”. Her favorite softball memory would be getting the opportunity to play for two very amazing mentors, Willard Spradlin and Chris King. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Nikita and her family in her spare time.
